Senior Engineer - Military Preliminary Cycle Design

Job Description Summary The Senior Engineer – Military Preliminary Cycle Design will work with Edison Works Project & Engineering to assess, define, and improve GE’s next generation of military products. They will model novel & derivative systems, execute design space trade studies, and assess concept strengths and weaknesses to influence GE strategic focus areas, customer requirements & proposal evaluation criteria, and to help prioritize GE technology investments. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities In the role of Senior Engineer – Military Preliminary Cycle Design, you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, support system level decisions for architecture designs, trade studies and contribute to the overall business strategy. Additionally, in the role of Senior Engineer – Military Preliminary Cycle Design, your responsibilities will include: Build & execute models of concept & derivative engines Prepare and lead presentations for leadership to help shape strategy Coordinate with a cross-functional team of adjacent disciplines (aero, cycles, systems) to assess technology capability & maturity Work with focals across Aviation to shape cross-section, weight, cost, and maintenance strategy for PD and GE Aviation / Edison Works Lead the development and integration of parametric tools to enable parametric design space exploration and optimization studies Support competitive assessments to help influence business strategy Ensuring discipline vitality through mentoring, and Design Board activities, including Design Practices, Best Practices and Lessons Learned Support commercial programs as required Prepare presentations for leadership to help shape strategy Execute with limited guidance the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments Participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and / or tasks Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited University or College Minimum of 10 years of experience in Preliminary Cycle Design GE Aerospace will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening. Desired Characteristics Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university Minimum of 10 years of experience in Preliminary Cycle Design Recognized expert in Preliminary Cycle Design Expert experience with NPSS Works effectively across organizational boundaries Communicates clearly and concisely, with candor and humility Demonstrates active listening and encourages all voices to be heard Effective technical mentor and teacher Actively contributes to DB27 Design Board or Tech Community Exposure to both military and commercial engine design requirements Cognizant of system level interactions and life cycle cost implications The base pay range for this position is $130,000.00 - 173,000.00. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on October 12, 2026.
