Job Description Job Summary: Software Development Engineers are expert problem-solvers and builders who design, implement, and improve software applications and systems. In this role, engineers spend approximately 60–75% of their time coding, working hands-on with code, data, and modern tools (including AI-assisted development, cloud services, and automation frameworks) to deliver secure, scalable, and high-quality technology solutions that drive business outcomes in the fintech sector. They collaborate with cross-functional teams – product managers, designers, data scientists, QA, operations, and compliance – to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions, all while adhering to best practices, security standards, and regulatory requirements. All roles require digital fluency, including the ability to work with emerging technologies such as Generative AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) to support everyday work. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with stakeholders to determine requirements and initiatives for product and technology components and incorporate feedback into future designs or solutions. Design, develop and implement features, enhancements, Webservices, Microservices, tools and utilities in a client facing environment on a platform that is highly scalable and resilient on the N-tier architecture in Agile development life cycle. Translate functional requirements into system designs and communicate component interactions, ensuring alignment with business needs and timelines, design and develop product components, refine code plans, and lead design reviews to ensure completeness and adherence to requirements. Contribute to project estimation, considering delivery costs and escalating issues that may cause delays. Lead by example in creating, implementing, and maintaining extensible, reusable code, and drive code quality through metrics and best practices. Apply debugging tools to resolve moderately complex issues and identify opportunities for automation across products. Lead code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards ensuring quality and consistency and providing feedback to team members. Create complex test plans, identify test gaps, and proactively address defects to minimize customer impact. Leverage data analysis and monitoring standards to identify patterns and defects in all environments, analyze and identify the root cause of performance issues and propose changes to designs and new enhancements for resiliency and scalability. Participate in production implementations, respond to incidents during on-call rotations, troubleshoot complex issues, and assist in incident response and resolution. Develop scripts, No SQL and SQL for detailed analysis and solutions in data processing and AI/ML models creation and analyzing and identifying the drift in Feature, Model and Data of the ML Models with proposals for retuning or fine tuning. Build, enhance, and identify new developer tools to support programs and applications to improve the system resilience and observability. Produce and maintain technical documentation to support development and operational initiatives. Acquire comprehensive knowledge of the Visa Dispute business domain, contribute to requirement analysis, evaluate various coding alternatives, and participate in scoping and sizing activities. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience. Preferred Qualifications: Experience building and testing applications, systems and enterprise-scale web services with proficiency in Java/J2EE, Spring framework, Spring boot, Struts, React, Web services with REST/SOAP. Experience with NoSQL and SQL, SQL development is essential. Familiarity with DB2, Cassandra and MySQL are preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in Microservices, container and cloud technologies, such as Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift, and S3 Experience in software engineering product development and designs for highly scalable and always-on distributed systems with expertise in developing and supporting complex solutions for business enterprise applications including batch and data processing with security. Demonstrated experience in delivering complex projects from concept to deployment working on client-facing project or technical teams. Proven problem-solving skills and an ability to respond resourcefully to new demands, priorities, and challenges An understanding of end-end system and strong debugging and root cause analysis skills to help support production systems. Experience with messaging systems like Kafka, Message Broker Experience with build tools, such as Gradle, and version control systems, such as Git. Experience in data processing using java or python, spring boot and familiar with Spark, and ETL. Proficiency in leveraging generative AI for development, enhance processes and resource efficiency, and skills in AI/ML highly desirable. Familiarity with continuous integration tools, like Jenkins, and infrastructure automation platforms, such as Ansible or Chef Work experience in Agile methodologies, like Scrum. Proven expertise developing software within the Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SSDLC) mode Experience with automation testing tools like Selenium/ TestNG/ Cucumber Hands on with Python programming and strong understanding of Linux/UNIX and shell scripting Experience with scheduling tools like Control M, CA-ESP or Autosys desirable Familiarity with the SAFe framework is a plus. Information for US Applicants For roles located in the US, the estimated salary range for this position is $137,200.00 to $ 219,700.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
