Job Description Wealth Trust Services administers trust relationships within the Affluent Segment and is seeking a Senior Trust Officer to manage trust and investment accounts. This role oversees a portfolio of fiduciary relationships in accordance with governing documents, applicable law, U.S. Bank policies and procedures, and corporate and regulatory requirements. Accounts may include revocable and irrevocable trusts, charitable and special needs trusts, estates, agencies, custodial accounts, IRAs, and other fiduciary or investment accounts. This client-facing role requires sound fiduciary judgment, strong relationship management, and the ability to navigate complex administrative, legal, tax, operational, and service matters. As the primary contact for clients, beneficiaries, attorneys, advisors, and internal partners, the Senior Trust Officer ensures each relationship is administered accurately, consistently, and in accordance with fiduciary obligations and client objectives. Job Description The Senior Trust Officer interprets governing documents, evaluates discretionary requests, identifies and addresses fiduciary risks, coordinates specialized resources, and resolves complex administrative matters. The role requires sound judgment, clear communication, and the ability to balance client experience, regulatory obligations, operational discipline, and risk management. Working within a team-based service model, Senior Trust Officers partner with Portfolio Managers, Trust Associates, specialty asset teams, tax and legal professionals, operations teams, financial advisors, bankers, and other Wealth Management colleagues to deliver coordinated fiduciary solutions and a consistent client experience. The Senior Trust Officer promotes relationship retention and growth by building strong client and beneficiary relationships, identifying opportunities to deepen existing relationships, supporting referrals and new business, participating in account acceptance and transition discussions, and delivering high-quality service throughout the client lifecycle. The role also requires accurate documentation, timely system updates, strong data integrity, and adherence to established controls and procedures. Senior Trust Officers must identify emerging fiduciary, operational, financial, and reputational risks; escalate concerns appropriately; and contribute to process improvements, technology initiatives, and business continuity efforts that strengthen the trust administration platform’s effectiveness and scalability. Core Responsibilities • Fiduciary Administration: Administer assigned fiduciary and investment relationships in accordance with governing documents, applicable law, fiduciary standards, bank policies, and regulatory requirements. Apply sound judgment when interpreting trust provisions and fulfilling fiduciary responsibilities. • Client and Beneficiary Experience: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, beneficiaries, attorneys, accountants, advisors, and other stakeholders. Communicate proactively, responsively, and accurately to address concerns, manage expectations, and deliver a high-quality client experience. • Complex Matter Escalation and Resolution: Assess and resolve complex administrative issues, discretionary matters, beneficiary concerns, family dynamics, trust terminations, account transitions, specialty asset matters, and other sensitive situations. Engage appropriate partners and document decisions in accordance with fiduciary and risk management expectations. • Risk Management and Compliance: Identify, evaluate, and manage fiduciary, operational, regulatory, financial, and reputational risks across assigned relationships. Comply with applicable laws, regulations, bank policies, procedures, and fiduciary standards while maintaining complete and accurate documentation. • Relationship Retention and Growth: Promote retention, asset growth, and relationship expansion by monitoring relationship health, identifying client needs, supporting business development and referrals, and partnering across Wealth Management to deliver additional solutions when appropriate. • Team-Based Delivery and Partner Coordination: Collaborate with Portfolio Managers, Trust Associates, trust support and specialty asset teams, tax professionals, legal counsel, operations partners, financial advisors, and banking partners to provide coordinated fiduciary services and achieve client objectives. Share expertise and help advance fiduciary best practices across teams. • Performance Management Information and Data Quality: Maintain accurate and timely account documentation, records, system updates, fiduciary reviews, service requests, correspondence, and management information. Keep all systems-of-record information complete, current, and accurate. • Market Presence and Enterprise Representation: Maintain an active presence with assigned teams and markets. Articulate the capabilities and value of Wealth Trust Services, strengthen partnerships across Affluent Wealth Management, and represent the business in leadership forums and cross-functional discussions. Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. • Eight or more years of experience in trust administration, fiduciary services, wealth management, estate administration, or a closely related field. • Demonstrated knowledge of fiduciary administration, governing-document interpretation, trust products and services, fiduciary risk, and applicable banking and regulatory responsibilities. • Ability to foster a high-performing client focused culture. • Demonstrated judgment and experience resolving complex client, beneficiary, administrative, operational, or risk matters through coordinated decision-making and clear documentation. • Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration, analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving and relational skills. Desired Qualifications • Advanced degree or applicable professional designation, such as CTFA, ATFA, CFP, or another relevant fiduciary, financial planning, legal, or risk credential. • Extensive knowledge of fiduciary administration, trust and estate taxation, special needs trusts, charitable planning, estate settlement, fiduciary accounting, and related regulatory requirements. • Experience with client retention, relationship growth, referral management, fiduciary administration, client care, presentation, management reporting, and process or technology change. • Ability to influence across organizational boundaries and establish credibility with clients, beneficiaries, employees, senior leaders, attorneys, advisors, risk partners, and other internal and external stakeholders.
