In this vital role you will be responsible for providing expert employee relations guidance and support to managers and staff across Amgen’s Latin America region and Canada.Staff Relations is a specialized Human Resources function that partners closely with regional HR Leaders, Business Managers, Compliance, Legal, other HR Centers of Excellence and team members to protect Amgen values, investigate potential violations of HR policies, provide practical advice and guidance on coaching staff and managers, and advise on performance and behaviors management, discipline, involuntary terminations, and workplace accommodations.Provide practical and legally appropriate staff relations guidance on performance management, disciplinary action, and workplace conflict to HR partners and business leaders in LATAM and Canada. Participate in termination discussions and corrective actions with staff and leaders as neededConduct and document thorough, impartial, unbiased, and timely HR investigations, maintaining confidentiality and objectivity. Determine findings of facts and violations of policy and prepare clear, concise investigation summaries and supporting documentation to support these findings Partner with local HR Business Partners and Staff Relations team to ensure culturally nuanced and compliant ER practicesTrack and update cases in the company’s case management systemAssist the Regional Staff Relations Lead in implementing process improvements, training, and ER best practicesCollaborate with Compliance, Legal, and Learning & Development teams to deliver training on HR policies, investigations, and respectful workplace behaviorsWhat we expect from youWe are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The Staff Relations Manager we seek is a professional with these qualifications:Basic Qualifications:Master’s degree and 2 years of Employee Relations experienceOrBachelor’s degree and 4 years of Employee Relations experience Advanced proficiency in English and Spanish with excellent written and oral communication skillsPreferred Qualifications:Strong Human Resources background with 4+ years of experience in Employee RelationsExperience advising on performance management, disciplinary actions, and involuntary terminations of employmentKnowledge and experience of employment laws and ER practices across LATAM and CanadaExperience conducting internal HR investigations Ability to learn and fairly apply company policy, investigation procedures, and regulatory guidelines within scope of dutiesExperience working across different countries and cultures, with a commitment to educating oneself on cultural norms and varying lawsStrong judgment, discretion, and professionalism in handling complex and confidential mattersProficient in Microsoft Office tools, Teams/WebEx, Workday, and case management systems such as EthicsPointWhat you can expect from usAs we work to develop treatments that take care of others, we also work to care for your professional and personal growth and well-being.
