Intermediate Software Engineer – Java Full Stack

Citi is looking for an Intermediate Software Engineer to join its Technology team and contribute to the design, development, and continuous improvement of enterprise-grade application systems. In this role, you will build and enhance full stack solutions using Java Spring Boot and Angular, working across the software development lifecycle to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable systems. You will operate with meaningful autonomy, act as a subject matter expert to senior stakeholders, and play an active role in shaping technical outcomes within a high-impact financial services environment. Responsibilities Design and implement enhancements to enterprise application systems using Java Spring Boot and Angular, translating business and technical requirements into robust full stack solutions. Develop and maintain both backend services and frontend interfaces, ensuring consistency, performance, and reliability across the full stack. Analyze existing applications to identify vulnerabilities, security gaps, and areas for improvement, conducting testing and debugging to maintain system integrity. Collaborate with users, clients, and cross-functional technology teams to diagnose issues and deliver effective programming solutions. Apply scripting tools and code analysis techniques to define and implement system enhancements that meet evolving technical requirements. Support and mentor junior analysts, sharing technical knowledge and guiding problem resolution through hands-on coaching. Evaluate risk in technical decisions, ensuring development practices align with security standards, regulatory requirements, and Citi's policies. Required Qualifications & Skills 4+ years of experience in application development within the financial services industry. Hands-on development experience with Java Spring Boot for backend services and Angular for frontend development. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical problems, evaluate options, and implement effective, well-reasoned solutions. Proven ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely, both in writing and in conversations with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting requirements in a fast-paced environment. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
