Location/Division Specific Information: Bedford, MA / Purification & Pharma Analytics How Will You Make an Impact?: The Senior Manufacturing Technician, POROS Manufacturing is responsible for performing advanced hands-on manufacturing activities in support of the production of POROS chromatography resin. This role executes production activities safely, compliantly, and efficiently while providing technical support to the manufacturing team and assisting with maintenance, material handling, and other operational activities as needed. The Senior Manufacturing Technician independently performs a broad range of manufacturing tasks, operates and monitors production equipment, completes required production documentation, and troubleshoots routine process and equipment issues. This role serves as an experienced resource on the manufacturing floor, supporting less experienced technicians, sharing technical knowledge, and helping the team maintain safe, reliable, and consistent production operations. This position routinely manages work of moderate complexity with occasional variations from standard conditions and is expected to exercise sound judgment within established procedures. The Senior Manufacturing Technician works with greater independence than a Manufacturing Technician II and is expected to proactively identify issues, support problem resolution, and contribute to continuous improvement and achievement of daily production objectives. A Day in the Life: Perform duties within the corporate EH&S Standards and place proper emphasis on safety and quality. Operate various process equipment including reactors, pressure filters, pumps, filling, labeling and packaging equipment according to written SOP’s and UOP’s in a large scale, chemical batch manufacturing process. Performs and trains new employees on various activities in accordance with SOP and UOP’s to carry out unit operations such as the following: equipment changeovers with Lock Out Tag Out and Confined space protocols, Elutriation processes and finished product discharges, R-Bead polymerization processes, Bead Coating processes, and various smaller scale processes. Maintain batch and equipment records per department’s ISO13485 standards and Good Documentation practices with a high focus on quality. Work with the team on 5S and continuous improvement activities within the work center including cleaning activities in areas as needed. May receive training and perform required in process testing to continue manufacturing processes. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of chemical or biotech manufacturing experience and knowledge of computer applications is required. Experience in cGMP Environment, use of Delta V, and/or SAP is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Proficient oral and written communication skills are required to be effective in this role. Ability to interpret data, perform basic calculations, and troubleshooting skills. Highly organized and excellent at multi-tasking, proactive, hardworking, and self motivated. Physical Requirements / Work Environment Ability to stand for 80% of the shift, move ~40 lbs up one flight of stairs, push 55 gallon drums on wheeled dollies and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including work uniform, steel toe shoes, hair net, safety glasses, bump cap, and nitrile gloves. PPE may also include face shield, respirator, and smock.
