Abbott Diabetes Care Kilkenny Abbott Diabetes Care has opened a new site, in Kilkenny, that is at the forefront of Diabetes care with the latest technology, to manufacture Freestyle blood glucose test strips and Freestyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the Freestyle Precision, Freestyle Lite and Freestyle Libre systems. This is for a new position to be located in Kilkenny, Ireland, but working as part of the Engineering Data & Analytics team within ADC's Global Engineering function. Main purpose of the role We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst to join our Engineering Data & Analytics team at our Kilkenny manufacturing facility. This role will be focused on supporting local site initiatives while also contributing to global Engineering Data & Analytics programmes. Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Technical Services, and site leadership teams, you will transform complex data into meaningful insights that improve performance, support decision making, and accelerate continuous improvement. The successful candidate will combine strong analytical capability with business understanding, helping teams identify opportunities, quantify performance, solve problems, and measure outcomes through data. Main Responsibilities Deliver Business Insights Analyse manufacturing, engineering, quality, supply chain, and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities. Translate complex datasets into clear and actionable insights for technical and non-technical audiences. Develop meaningful KPIs, metrics, and performance measures that support business objectives. Support data-driven decision making across multiple functions within the site. Support Manufacturing & Engineering Operations Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Continuous Improvement teams to solve complex business challenges. Identify performance improvement opportunities through statistical analysis and data exploration. Investigate process variation, performance gaps, and root causes using structured analytical methodologies. Measure and track the effectiveness of improvement initiatives and operational programmes. Develop Analytics Solutions Design and develop dashboards, reports, visualisations, and self-service analytics solutions. Work with data engineers and platform teams to ensure data is reliable, accessible, and fit for purpose. Support the development of advanced analytics capabilities that improve business performance. Help establish best practices for analytics, reporting, and business intelligence across the site. Support Global Programmes Act as the primary analytics representative for global Engineering Data & Analytics projects being deployed to the Kilkenny site. Ensure global solutions are effectively adopted and local business requirements are represented. Collaborate with colleagues across Europe and the United States to share insights, best practices, and analytical approaches. Support standardisation of metrics, reporting, and analytical methodologies across the manufacturing network. Provide Leadership & Influence Serve as a trusted advisor to site stakeholders on data and analytics matters. Present findings and recommendations to engineering teams, site leadership, and global stakeholders. Mentor junior analysts and help develop analytical capability across the organisation. Promote a culture of fact-based decision making and continuous improvement. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related discipline. Significant experience in data analytics, business intelligence, operational analytics, or engineering analytics. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience working with complex datasets. Advanced SQL skills and experience querying large datasets. Experience developing automation and analytics solutions using Python or similar scripting/programming tools to streamline processes, integrate data sources, and support data-driven decision making. Experience creating data visualizations, dashboards, and analytical reporting solutions using a range of tools and technologies (e.g., Power BI, Python, JavaScript, JMP, Tableau, Spotfire, R, or similar platforms). Ability to communicate insights effectively to both technical and business audiences. Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Experience Experience within Medical Devices, Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, Manufacturing, or other regulated industries. Experience supporting manufacturing operations, engineering functions, quality systems, or supply chain processes. Understanding of statistical analysis techniques and process performance measurement. Experience working with Databricks, Spark, or modern cloud-based analytics platforms. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Operational Excellence, or Continuous Improvement methodologies. Experience supporting digital transformation or Industry 4.0 initiatives.
