About the Team OpenAI’s IT organization supports the mission of deploying artificial general intelligence (AGI) for the benefit of all. Our team is committed to providing seamless technological support and solutions to ensure that all OpenAI employees are well-equipped and connected. This enables them to contribute effectively towards our AI research, corporate operations and product initiatives. About the Role As an ITAV Deployment Engineer at OpenAI, you will deliver the audiovisual systems for new offices, expansions, and refresh projects. You will turn approved designs into installed, configured, and tested systems, coordinate integrators and site dependencies, and carry defects through verified closeout. Your coordination begins at project inception and continues through delivery, commissioning, and acceptance by the receiving support team. You will partner with ITAV Engineering on design decisions, Network Engineering on connectivity, and Workplace and Capital Builds on site readiness and delivery timing. In this role, you will: - Deliver assigned AV build packages for new offices, expansions, and refreshes using approved designs, room standards, and installation requirements. - Coordinate the ITAV workstream for office construction projects from inception through delivery, partnering with Capital Builds, Network Security, and Workplace Design and Construction to align requirements, schedules, dependencies, and handoffs. - Review drawings, equipment lists, site conditions, and integrator plans; identify missing prerequisites and raise design exceptions before installation. - Coordinate equipment staging, installation sequencing, vendor deliverables, and site access with integrators, Workplace, Capital Builds, and ITAV program partners. - Configure conferencing endpoints, Q-SYS controls and audio processing, and AV-over-IP connections to match the approved design. - Prepare accurate device and port records and coordinate IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, and connectivity requirements with Network Engineering. - Commission rooms end to end, testing audio, video, control, conferencing, content sharing, monitoring, and recovery against documented acceptance criteria. - Diagnose installation and integration failures, maintain a prioritized punch list, and retest fixes before accepting completed work. - Deliver configuration backups, as-built markups, inventory, test evidence, and support instructions; train receiving technicians and secure operational handoff. - Identify repeatable deployment work and automate it using AI, agentic workflows, and basic scripting. Maintain reusable checks and templates, validate results, and obtain engineering review for changes to shared standards. You might thrive in this role if you have: - Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and commissioning enterprise conference room AV systems from technical designs. - Experience reading AV signal-flow drawings, equipment schedules, and installation plans, and recording accurate as-built changes. - Practical experience configuring conferencing hardware and platforms such as Logitech, Cisco, Google Meet, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams. - Experience configuring and troubleshooting Q-SYS audio and control systems, including signal routing and reusable configuration components. - Working knowledge of AV-over-IP technologies such as Q-LAN, Dante, and NDI and the ability to isolate signal, configuration, and transport faults. - Practical networking knowledge covering IP addressing, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and multicast, with sound judgment about when to involve Network Engineering. - Experience coordinating integrator work, site prerequisites, equipment readiness, defects, and commissioning milestones within an assigned project. - Experience working cross-functionally with Workplace Design and Construction partners to deliver new office construction projects. - Ability to verify the complete meeting experience, document technical acceptance, and prepare usable configuration records and support handoffs. - Clear communication and demonstrated ability to build, test, and maintain AI and agentic workflows using scripting or configuration tools to automate repeatable deployment work. - Experience contributing reusable Q-SYS components or shared deployment tooling is a plus. - Experience delivering office AV across multiple locations or working with room scheduling and signage endpoints is a plus.
