Because we serve a large and growing base of newly incorporated limited companies on fixed fees, this is a high-volume role. You'll be one of the team's technical reviewers, checking and signing off compliance work prepared by team members, including our offshore production team, and managing your own workload independently against statutory deadlines.You'll come from an accountancy practice and be comfortable working across a large client base at pace, prioritising by deadline and risk, and keeping a commercial eye on the time spent against a fixed fee. Your expertise will help shape how we deliver accountancy services as we scale, with real scope to progress as the team grows.Key ResponsibilitiesReview and sign off work prepared by team members before submission, including PAYE and VAT registrations, payroll and RTI submissions, VAT returns and CIS returnsReview year-end statutory accounts prepared under FRS 105, FRS 102 Section 1A and FRS 102, together with the related corporation tax returnsReview Self Assessment tax returns for company directorsPrepare more complex or non-standard accounts and returns yourself where neededManage your own review queue independently, prioritising by statutory deadline and risk across a high volume of clientsGive clear, constructive feedback to preparers, helping to raise first-time quality across the teamReview bookkeeping and bank reconciliations in Xero, making sure client records are accurate, complete and up to dateHandle technical client queries, escalating complex or high-risk matters to the Accounting ManagerSpot work that falls outside a client's fixed-fee plan and flag it so it can be scoped and billedSupport clients with their Making Tax Digital requirementsHelp develop internal guidance, review checklists and templates to support consistent, high-quality deliveryIdentify opportunities to improve processes, tools and client educationWhat We Are Looking ForQualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with some post-qualification experiencePractice background, with solid experience of compliance work for small and owner-managed limited companiesExperience of reviewing other people's work, or ready to step up into a reviewing roleStrong technical knowledge of FRS 105, FRS 102 Section 1A and FRS 102, with a sound working knowledge of corporation tax, VAT, PAYE, CIS and personal tax as they apply to small businessesComfortable working with high client volumes, able to prioritise competing deadlines and manage your own workload without close supervisionCommercially aware, with an understanding of how a fixed-fee practice works and why efficiency mattersStrong hands-on experience with Xero; experience of a practice management system such as Karbon is an advantageA clear communicator, able to explain financial matters to non-specialist business owners and give constructive feedback to colleaguesA collaborative mindset, comfortable working within a growing teamWhat We Offer£50,000 to £60,000 and a comprehensive benefits packageHybrid working modelReal opportunities for progression as the business scalesThe chance to influence both customer experience and product developmentA culture that values ownership, impact, and continuous learningEqual Opportunities BSQ Accounting is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.
