What is the job?This is an opportunity to shape how our clinical teams learn, develop and perform as Montu continues to grow.Sitting within the Learning and Development function, you will take ownership of the learning experience across our clinical teams. You will build structured, engaging and practical development programmes that give our people the knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver safe, consistent and patient-centred care.You do not need to be a clinician or hold a professional healthcare registration. However, you will need to understand the realities of working in a clinical environment, including the importance of patient safety, clinical governance, regulatory compliance and quality.Working closely with clinical subject-matter experts, operational leaders and the wider People team, you will turn complex standards, processes and clinical requirements into learning that people can understand, apply and embed in their everyday work.This is a hands-on role for someone who is passionate about developing people, confident working with specialist stakeholders and comfortable building learning solutions in a fast-paced and evolving environment.What You Will OwnClinical Learning and DevelopmentOwn the learning and development plan for our clinical teams, ensuring it supports business priorities, service growth and workforce capabilityDesign and deliver structured onboarding, induction and ongoing development programmes for new and existing team membersBuild clear learning pathways that support employees from joining the business through to continued development and career progressionCreate engaging workshops, digital learning, practical resources and supporting materials for a range of clinical audiencesConduct training needs analyses, skills audits and capability assessments to identify current and future development prioritiesDeliver group workshops, virtual learning sessions and one-to-one coaching where requiredSupport the delivery and monitoring of mandatory training and continuing professional development requirementsCompetency and CapabilityDevelop clear and practical competency frameworks in partnership with clinical subject-matter expertsCreate consistent approaches to assessing knowledge, skills and competence across clinical teamsWork with managers to identify capability gaps and put appropriate development plans in placeSupport leaders in embedding coaching, feedback and reflective practice within their teamsEnsure learning is transferred into day-to-day performance rather than ending when the training session finishesClinical Standards and GovernanceWork closely with Clinical Governance, Quality, Safeguarding and operational leaders to ensure learning reflects current standards and requirementsTranslate clinical policies, pathways, Standard Operating Procedures and regulatory requirements into clear and practical learningSupport the rollout of new clinical services, systems, technologies and ways of working through effective training and change supportEnsure relevant learning supports Care Quality Commission standards, patient safety requirements and internal governance expectationsRecognise where specialist clinical input or approval is required and work with the appropriate subject-matter expertMaintain accurate learning, competency and compliance records across clinical teamsLearning Impact and Continuous ImprovementEstablish clear measures of success for learning programmes and evaluate their impact on capability, performance and service qualityUse assessment outcomes, employee feedback, audit findings, quality data, incidents, complaints and patient feedback to identify learning prioritiesProduce meaningful learning insights and reports to demonstrate progress, risks and areas for improvementRegularly review and improve learning content to ensure it remains accurate, relevant and effectiveIdentify opportunities to improve how learning is delivered, recorded and embedded across the businessChampion a culture where learning, coaching, feedback and continuous improvement are part of everyday workStakeholder PartnershipBuild credible and trusted relationships with clinical, operational and People leadersPartner with subject-matter experts to create learning that is clinically accurate, engaging and appropriate for its audienceCoach and support managers to identify development needs and build capability within their teamsBalance learning priorities with operational requirements in a busy and fast-moving environmentAct as the Learning and Development lead for relevant clinical change and transformation projectsWhat do you need?Strong experience within Learning and Development, workforce development, operational training or a similar roleA good understanding of clinical or healthcare environments, including patient safety, clinical governance, quality and regulatory requirementsExperience designing and delivering engaging learning programmes for specialist, operational or regulated teamsStrong learning design skills, with the ability to turn complex or technical information into clear and practical learningExperience developing structured onboarding programmes, learning pathways or competency frameworksExcellent facilitation, coaching and communication skillsThe confidence to work with clinical specialists and senior stakeholders without needing to be the clinical expert in the roomStrong stakeholder-management skills and the ability to build credibility across different teamsA proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving businessStrong project-management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver work through to completionExperience using data, feedback and performance measures to evaluate learning and drive improvementExperience supporting organisational change, service transformation or the implementation of new systems and processesConfidence using learning management systems, digital learning tools and reporting platformsA relevant Learning and Development, education or training qualification would be beneficial but is not essentialProfessional
