Secure Every Identity, from AI to Human Identity is the key to unlocking the potential of AI. Okta secures AI by building the trusted, neutral infrastructure that enables organizations to safely embrace this new era. This work requires a relentless drive to solve complex challenges with real-world stakes. We are looking for builders and owners who operate with speed and urgency and execute with excellence. This is an opportunity to do career-defining work. We're all in on this mission. If you are too, let's talk. About the team As the leading independent identity provider for the enterprise, Okta is on a mission to build a world-class brand. Driving that mission is the Brand & Creative team: a dynamic group of art directors, designers, writers, strategists, project managers, and producers who bring the Okta brand to life across every touchpoint. Within Brand & Creative, our team tells powerful stories, elevates high-visibility moments, and crafts design systems that scale across digital and physical environments globally. We partner closely with cross-functional teams across Marketing to turn major strategic initiatives into inspiring, category-defining creative work. About the role As a Motion Designer, you will occupy a unique and influential intersection on our team: balancing the rigor of our central motion design system with the versatility to concept and craft bespoke, show-stopping motion for our most critical brand moments. We are looking for a nimble, craft-obsessed motion designer who moves fluidly between two complementary mindsets: The Systems Architect: Building, maintaining, and codifying scalable motion infrastructure—modular After Effects templates, MOGRTs, centralized toolkits, and expression-driven assets that keep our visual identity unified and empower the broader creative team to move fast. The Bespoke Maker: Developing dynamic, impact-focused creative solutions that break through the noise—whether designing immersive LED screen loops for flagship events like Oktane, animating punchy social storytelling, elevating high-stakes brand campaigns, or breathing kinetic life into brand films. If you love sweating the micro-details of timing, easing, and visual storytelling just as much as you love building smart, reusable systems that elevate an entire brand, this role is built for you. What you'll be doing Balance Systems & Bespoke Craft: Seamlessly oscillate between scaling our central motion design system and rolling up your sleeves to execute custom, high-visibility animation across campaigns, events, digital, and video. Architect & Maintain Central Motion Systems: Champion Okta’s motion guidelines and infrastructure. Design, document, and maintain modular After Effects project templates, Essential Graphics (MOGRTs), and reusable motion libraries that make on-brand motion accessible to internal collaborators and external agency partners. Deliver High-Impact Event Experiences: Concept and execute bespoke motion packages for owned flagship events (Oktane) and major industry activations (AWS re:Invent, RSAC, NRF, etc.). Craft immersive keynote walk-in loops, speaker intros, and environmental stage graphics tailored to custom LED dimensions and experiential spaces. Craft Standout Brand & Campaign Motion: Partner with our Senior Motion Designer and Creative Leads to translate high-level campaign briefs into expressive motion graphics, kinetic typography, and animated concepts that elevate product launches, brand announcements, and company milestones. Drive Dynamic Social & Digital Storytelling: Bring fresh energy, pacing, and visual wit to social channels (LinkedIn, YouTube, X) and digital touchpoints, translating complex enterprise security and AI narratives into captivating, scroll-stopping visual content. Elevate Video & Branded Content: Collaborate with video editors and producers on title sequences, kinetic type treatments, UI animations, and motion graphic overlays for customer case studies, product sizzles, and brand films. Push the Boundaries of Brand Motion: Experiment and explore new kinetic expressions for the Okta visual identity, testing how our visual language, iconography, and graphic elements behave dynamically across 2D and 3D spaces. End-to-End Production & Optimization: Own motion assets from initial styleframes and storyboarding through final animation, audio sync, rendering, compression, and delivery across broadcast, web, social, and non-standard event display formats. What you'll bring to the role Experience: 3+ years of dedicated motion design experience in-house at a fast-paced tech company, creative branding agency, or motion studio, demonstrating equal strength in system building and bespoke creative execution. Dual-Track Creative Mindset: Demonstrated ability to balance disciplined, organized systems thinking (templates, toolkits, brand consistency) with the agility and creative fire needed to craft inventive, one-of-a-kind motion moments. Tool & Craft Mastery (Required): Expert-level proficiency in Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, and the core Adobe Creative Cloud suite (Illustrator, Photoshop). Sound, intuitive command of motion fundamentals: kinetic typography, spatial staging, easing curves, rhythm, and visual hierarchy. Motion Systems & Templating Fluency: Hands-on experience developing modular After Effects templates, Essential Graphics/MOGRTs, and standardized project setups that enable team-wide scalability. Versatile, Impact-Driven Portfolio: A standout reel and portfolio showcasing a balanced breadth of work—from large-scale event stage animations and campaign hero pieces to social content and structured motion toolkits. Technical Fluency: Solid command of digital video formats, aspect ratios, framerates, codecs, and render optimization across mobile, desktop, and large-format physical screen arrays. Collaborative & Agile Attitude: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with comfort advocating for motion rationale, adapting to feedback, and thriving in an iterative, fast-moving creative environment. Extra points if you have 3D Motion Capability: Working knowledge of 3D motion design and rendering tools (Cinema 4D, Blender, Redshift, Octane). Expression Scripting: Familiarity with writing After Effects expressions to build smarter, automated, dynamic MOGRTs and templates. Experiential & Stage Tech: Practical experience creating motion graphics for custom LED resolutions, spatial light mapping, or experiential digital signage. Multi-Brand & Localization: Experience managing motion assets across multi-brand ecosystems or localizing toolkits for global marketing teams. Why you should be excited about this role You get the best of both worlds: the technical satisfaction of building foundational, high-leverage motion systems and the creative freedom to direct bespoke, boundary-pushing work. Your creative output will be seen by hundreds of thousands of people across global keynote screens, high-profile campaigns, and multi-channel digital touchpoints. You will directly influence how one of the most vital enterprise identity and security brands moves, transitions, and expresses itself in modern visual culture. You will work alongside a collaborative, craft-first team of art directors, designers, and storytellers who celebrate bold creative swings and visual excellence. Why we are excited about you You don’t believe in choosing between systemic efficiency and creative distinction—you know how to make systems flexible enough to inspire great art. You have an impeccable eye for timing and pacing, knowing when an animation calls for clean, understated elegance versus high-energy punch. You are naturally curious, proactive, and excited to jump between building scalable infrastructure and dreaming up bespoke creative solutions.
