Senior Process Development Engineer - 2D growth

Your RoleAs a Senior Process Development Engineer – 2D growth, you will lead high-temperature thermal processing, tool qualification and graphene-synthesis baseline development for FabONE.You will drive the release and optimization of 2D-material growth processes, improve thermal-film properties, and establish stable, repeatable graphene-growth recipes. Working on site in our Aachen cleanroom, you will collaborate with Process Integration and Metrology teams to integrate thermal processes into downstream GFET and optical modules.What You’ll DoLead high-temperature process development, layer property mapping and recipe optimization for graphene and other 2D materialsDrive tool installation, commissioning, process qualification and system optimization in FabONEDevelop, qualify and stabilize repeatable graphene-growth recipes that meet defect-density and film properties specificationsSupport the integration of graphene growth and transfer processes on target 300 mm substrate wafersEstablish SPC baseline charts and routine characterization protocols for daily process monitoringUse Design of Experiments (DOE), SPC and root-cause analysis to improve process performance and resolve process and/or equipment issuesCollaborate with Process Integration and Metrology teams on film characterization using techniques such as Raman spectroscopy, optical microscopy, sheet-resistance measurement, AFM and SEMSupport inline defect reduction and the continuous improvement of process yield and stabilityCreate SOPs, safety protocols and technical documentation to reduce single-point-of-failure risksCross-train team members to establish reliable operational coverage for furnace processesWhat You BringDeep expertise in high-temperature furnace operations and thermal processingHands-on experience with semiconductor process development, process control and baseline stabilization in a cleanroom fab environmentExperience with CVD synthesis of graphene or other 2D materials is a strong advantageExperience with Thermal Furnace processes is an advantageA proven track record of commissioning and qualifying process tools and releasing processes into operationExperience using SPC and DOE methodologies, including tools such as JMP or MinitabFamiliarity with thin-film characterization techniques, including sheet-resistance measurement, Raman spectroscopy, optical microscopy, AFM or SEMStrong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills for process and equipment troubleshootingExcellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teamsComfortable working in an ISO 5/6 cleanroom while wearing full cleanroom PPEComfortable handling wafer cassettes, precursor canisters and high-temperature furnace hardwareWhat We OfferThe opportunity to establish graphene-growth processes for FabONE from qualification through stable operationA hands-on, cleanroom-based role working with high-temperature processing and 2D-material technologiesA potential career path towards the Senior IC or Technical Principal track, leading the thermal and 2D-material deposition technology roadmap, or towards engineering management leadershipOur work culturePeople Over Processes.
