We’re building a relationship-oriented bank for the modern world. We need talented, passionate professionals who are dedicated to doing what’s right for our clients. At CIBC, we embrace your strengths and your ambitions, so you are empowered at work. Our team members have what they need to make a meaningful impact and are truly valued for who they are and what they contribute. To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com What you'll be doing You'll join CIBC's US AML Transformation, Delivery, and Insights team as the person who puts transaction monitoring (TM) rules into production. Our analytics team designs and tunes the rules; you turn their approved specifications into working code, map the source data each rule needs, test the result end to end, and stand behind it with Model Risk Management (MRM), audit and examiners. You'll work in SQL and in SAS or Python, on SAS AML, with Databricks alongside it. Experience on NICE Actimize SAM, Oracle FCCM/Mantas, Verafin or a similar platform carries over. This is an individual-contributor role with a direct line from your work to the controls that protect CIBC's US bank. At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote. How you'll succeed Rule coding and deployment - Translate approved scenario and rule specifications into production code on the TM platform. Write clean, documented code, follow the bank's release process, and confirm rules operate as intended. Testing and user acceptance - Plan and run unit testing, parallel runs against current production output, and user acceptance testing (UAT) before go-live. Explain and resolve every variance, and record the evidence so a reviewer can follow it without a walkthrough. Analytics and optimization - Support the development, tuning, and optimization of transaction monitoring rules through data mining, statistical analysis, and query development. Identify opportunities to introduce new rules and strengthen typology coverage using quantitative and qualitative insights. Production support - Investigate alert anomalies and rule or data defects, find the root cause, and work with Risk Technology and vendors to fix them. Keep the rule inventory and technical documentation current. Regulatory, audit and model risk support - Answer exam and audit requests with data and clear write-ups. Prepare implementation and testing documentation to model risk standards and provide evidence. Who you are You have built and implemented AML monitoring rules. You bring 5+ years of experience coding, testing and deploying transaction monitoring scenarios, rules or models at a bank, fintech, vendor or consulting firm. You write strong SQL, Python or a similar language. Experience on AML Transaction Monitoring Systems or a similar platform is an asset; your ability to learn a new platform quickly matters more than which one you know. You know data. You have mapped source data to detection logic, traced data through ETL, and reconciled feeds to source. You test with discipline. You have run unit, parallel and user acceptance testing and documented results that held up to MRM, audit or regulatory review. You understand the regulatory side: BSA/AML requirements, suspicious activity monitoring, and model risk expectations. You have a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or a related field, or equivalent experience. It's an asset if you hold a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) designation. You know that details matter. You manage multiple priorities, work independently with limited supervision, and explain technical work clearly to technical and business audiences. Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
